More than 1,550 preschool children to visit the Oktoberfest on Monday

More than 1,550 preschool children from 73 nurseries and early years settings are to visit the Oktoberfest, where they will be welcomed by Mayor Verena Dietl.

She will be joined by Margit Braun and Claudia Janke from the childcare division of the Department for Education and Sport. After the welcome, the children will be divided into groups to explore the festival grounds.

The scheme, known as "Preschool children at the Wiesn", was set up by the city of Munich in 2002.

Partners and sponsors are the events company of the Munich showmen, the market traders and showpeople of the Oktoberfest, and the smaller Oktoberfest tents.
